Ask don’t tell

By learning to ask questions, you can develop positive relationships with your colleagues, and collect information much faster than in any other way. Asking questions is almost always better than making statements. It gives others the chance to express their opinions and ideas, which makes them feel good too.

When you understand why people do what they do, you can change what they do. Work on the “why” to get to the “what”. Questions can be used to make people say what you want them to say, convincing them that what they’re saying is their idea, even when it’s a consequence of your questions.
